The Indigo Dye Workshop

The Indigo Dye Workshop
We’re excited to be launching ‘Made Outside’ a new series of creative workshops for women in the GroWild woodland. These sessions are practical, hands-on workshops focused on traditional skills, natural materials and outdoor making, including botanical printing, indigo dyeing and willow weaving.
The Indigo Dye Workshop
Natural indigo, folded fabric and traditional resist dyeing in the GroWild woodland.
Spend a day exploring indigo dyeing and Shibori-inspired resist techniques, creating your own patterned scarf or tote bag to take home.
Set within the woodland, this is a hands-on workshop with most of the day spent folding, clamping, dyeing and experimenting. You’ll learn how folds, clamps and resist techniques can be used to create striking patterns with natural indigo dye, with each fold and placement influencing the final result.
Working alongside a small group of women, you’ll be guided through the process by Sevanti Roy, a textile designer and printmaker whose work centres around indigo dyeing, block printing and traditional textile techniques. Sevanti will introduce the materials, techniques and processes before supporting you through each stage of the workshop.
The workshop takes place outdoors within the GroWild woodland. Tea, coffee and refreshments are provided throughout the day. Please bring a packed lunch and dress appropriately for outdoor working and dye processes.
Date: Sunday 26th July
Time: 10am–5pm
Cost: £49 includes refreshments and homemade bakes
Special Offer: Buy a ticket for all three workshops for £110 - saving £17 (Just add all three workshops to your basket and the discount will automatically be applied)
