Our ‘Made Outside’ sessions are practical, hands-on workshops for women, focused on traditional skills, natural materials and outdoor making, including botanical printing, indigo dyeing and willow weaving.

The Winter Lantern Workshop

Creating your own illuminated lantern using willow, tissue paper and warm LED lights.

Set within the woodland, this is a hands-on workshop with most of the session spent constructing, wrapping and shaping. You’ll learn how to build the willow frame, add the lights and stretch and layer tissue paper across the structure, before finishing your lantern with your own decorative details.

Choose to create a glowing crescent moon or teardrop-shaped lantern, ready to hang at home or in the garden and bring a little light to the darker months ahead.

Working alongside a small group of women, you’ll be guided through each stage by Tara, an experienced visual artist and educator with Edible East CIC.

Time: 9.45 - 1pm

Cost: £39 includes refreshments and bakes

No experience is required and all materials are provided.

Please dress appropriately for outdoor conditions and woodland ground.

We’ll be using masking tape and PVA glue during the workshop. Please let us know in advance if you have any adverse reactions to these materials.
